
Fire Chiefs or Police Chiefs are often called upon to inspect fireworks shows for safety. In fact, NFPA-1123 gives these people specific duties with regard to the safe conduct of a fireworks display, and if an accident occurs it is almost certain that the various chiefs will be called on to answer for their inspections in court. But to be honest, most of the time this is outside of their area of expertise. They don't know the most common errors that have led to accidents. They are unfamiliar with the equipment, and the way it is properly set up. Most of the time the poor guy is just doing the best he can with inadequate knowledge.

The course is taught by Dr. Daniel P. Dolata. A chemist and a volunteer firefighter, Dr Dolata has won numerous teaching awards at various Universities. He is a fireworks display operator, and has taught display operator courses, fireworks safety courses, and chemical and manufacturing safety courses for many years.
